When you say “Hammond organ”, New Orleans might not be the first city that pops up in your mind, but with The Meters it has one of the most prolific bands in Hammond organ based funk music. While the original performance roars from the very start with a crunchy Hammond organ and a persistent tomtom-based drum groove, Bob’s arrangement of Art starts off with the bass only and gives freedom to the horns, whilst the rhythm section slowly builds up to the climactic point that shows the gospel influence in this music as well.
