about

Jelly Roll Morton, the self-proclaimed inventor of jazz was a very colorful man to say the least. Very much has been said about him. He was a pool hustler, card shark, pimp, vaudevillian, pianist, composer and bandleader. As a pianist, he started out in the New Orleans “sporting houses” in The District. The word Tom Cat could just mean a male cat, although it wouldn’t surprise us that the second meaning, a man who is seeing several women at the same time, fits more to the title of this song. The start of this piece is slow, but soon enough it turns into a festive tune to dance on.

about

RED The Hague, Netherlands

RED is uplifting, vibrant and energetic, reflecting the tradition from the fifties in their quirky originals. Soulful jazz with that great Hammond sound, the classic combination of trumpet and tenor saxophone and drums that swing the American way.
Their debut CD received a ****½ review in Dutch jazz glossy Jazzism and the band members get high praise from Wynton Marsalis and Terence Blanchard.
